In the music industry, a 360 deal is an all-encompassing contract between a record label and an artist. Instead of just getting a cut of recorded music sales, the label gets a share of the artist’s earnings from everything – publishing royalties, concerts, merchandise, sponsorships, even books and movies. These deals are controversial, with some seeing this deal as encroaching. However, others argue that it gives the label more incentive to maximize the artist’s career.
