A Synchronization License, also known as a “sync license,” is another term for a “sync agreement.” It allows you to use a song in a movie, TV show, or commercial, but you’ll need separate licenses from both the songwriter (who owns the composition) and the recording artist (who owns the recording). Sync licenses are usually one-time payments, but the songwriters might also earn performance royalties when the program is broadcast.
